Farnaz Younessian, DDS, MS
Dr. Younessian completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Master of Science (MS) in Orthodontics at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. Upon graduation from residency, she worked at the University of Shahid Beheshti’s Dentofacial Deformity Research Center for two years. Following this, she moved to the United States and completed a second orthodontic residency at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
In 2019, Dr. Younessian received a Research Aid Grant award from the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO). Her research project studied the application of local administration of antiresorptive agents to control tooth movements and prevent relapse during orthodontic treatment. Dr. Younessian has published more than 35 orthodontic clinical articles on the subjects of root resorption, acceleration of orthodontic tooth movement, and orthodontic considerations in medically compromised patients.
Dr. Younessian believes that it is essential to integrate advanced technology and evidence-based practice to provide the most effective treatment for her patients. To stay current, she attends the annual meetings of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and the Southern Association of Orthodontists (SAO).
Knowing that a beautiful smile impacts not only the oral health of patients but also their quality of life, Dr. Younessian volunteers annually with the ADA Foundation’s Give Kids A Smile program. Since being launched in 2003, more than 5.5 million underserved children have received free oral health exams.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, and practicing yoga.
