Here are a few tips on keeping your teeth healthy and strong:
  • Brush with fluoride toothpaste twice a day. Children under 6 should have a parent’s help. Make sure you don't swallow the toothpaste.
  • Begin flossing once the back primary molars are touching (around age 3). A parent will need to do the flossing until age 7 or 8.
  • Limit snacking to no more than twice a day. Choose snacks that are good for your teeth such as fruits and cheeses.
  • Find out if your water supply is fluoridated. Dr. Franklin may need to prescribe a fluoride supplement if your water has less than the optimal amount.
  • Visit Dr. Franklin regularly. (Twice a year is recommended.)
  • Have sealants applied to the chewing surfaces of the permanent molars soon after they erupt into the mouth, usually around age 6.
