Dr. Collins was born in Washington D.C., where he resided until high school, then moved with his family to Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended the University of Utah from 1993 to 1997. After completing his undergraduate studies, he relocated to Austin, Texas, to manage a family business and apply to dental school. He received his D.D.S. in 2003, and specialty diploma in Pediatric Dentistry in 2005, both from the University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio.
Throughout his time in San Antonio, Dr. Collins pursued community projects in behalf of children's dental health. He was co-founder and vice president of the Pre-doctoral Pediatric Dental Association, San Antonio chapter. He served as the San Antonio area chairman for the Special Olympics in 2002 and provided on site dental screenings for athletes and their families in 2001 2004. In addition, he initiated the “Lil’ Smiles” program in San Antonio, developed to educate children and parents about the importance of oral health. He holds membership in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Texas Dental Association.
Dr. Collins and his wife Tara have three children. He enjoys the outdoors and is especially passionate about surfing, water and snow skiing, and fishing.
